Job Title: Financial Manager – Contracting

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Financial Manager to lead the financial operations of our contracting company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial planning, reporting, compliance, and cost control within the contracting or construction industry. This role requires a results-oriented leader capable of driving financial performance, managing risks, and supporting long-term growth initiatives.
The candidate must have prior experience in a large-scale contracting company (LC Contracting/Construction Industry experience is mandatory).
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with local regulations and company policies.
- Ensure timely submission of tax filings, VAT returns, and statutory reports.
- Coordinate with external auditors and implement audit recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP standards and local financial regulations.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Develop, implement, and monitor annual budgets for corporate operations and individual projects.
- Track project financials, including cash flows, capital expenditures, and performance metrics.
- Work closely with project managers and commercial teams to maintain financial discipline and cost efficiency.
- Prepare financial forecasts and variance analysis reports.
Financial Analysis & Strategy
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide actionable financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Support strategic decision-making through financial modeling and business performance analysis.
- Recommend initiatives to improve profitability, reduce costs, and optimize cash flow.
Cash Flow & Liquidity Management
- Monitor and manage company cash flow to ensure operational continuity.
- Maintain healthy working capital and ensure timely payments to suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers.
- Coordinate with banks and financial institutions regarding facilities, guarantees, and funding requirements.
Cost Control & Contract Management
- Implement and oversee cost control mechanisms across all contracting projects.
- Monitor project costs, margins, and financial performance against approved budgets.
- Assist in contract reviews and negotiations to ensure financially favorable terms and minimize risks.
- Evaluate project profitability and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Promote accountability, continuous learning, and adherence to financial best practices.
- Establish clear KPIs and performance monitoring systems for the finance department.
Risk Management
- Identify financial and operational risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure adherence to corporate governance standards.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures.
QualificationsEducation
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- MBA or Master’s degree in Finance/Business Administration is an added advantage.
Experience
- 15–20 years of progressive experience in financial management.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the contracting/construction industry is mandatory.
- Must have prior experience working in an LC Contracting/Construction Company.
- Strong experience in budgeting, cost control, project accounting, and financial planning.
- Sound knowledge of financial regulations, taxation, VAT, and IFRS/GAAP standards.

- Proficiency in ERP systems and financial software such as SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks.
