Financial Planning Analyst

Job Title: FP&A Analyst

Location: Birmingham, Alabama


Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) Analyst to join our finance team in Birmingham, Alabama. This role is responsible for supporting financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making through data-driven insights. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial modeling skills, business acumen, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
  • Analyze financial performance, including variance analysis, trends, and key drivers
  • Partner with business units to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting cycles
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue growth, and operational efficiency
  • Support strategic initiatives through scenario modeling and financial analysis
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across financial systems and reports


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Financial Analyst
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling and advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with financial systems and ERP tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, CFA, or CPA designation (or progress toward certification)
  • Experience working in a corporate or multi-entity environment
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
