Responsibilities
- Manage and perform general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet analysis.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and accuracy using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.
- Conduct financial data entry with precision, maintaining comprehensive records for audits and reporting purposes.
- Support compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements through diligent documentation and internal controls.
- Utilize payroll management systems like Workday, ADP, Ceridian, or UltiPro to process payroll accurately while ensuring adherence to tax regulations and labor laws.
- Perform month-end closing activities, including account analysis and reconciliation of the general ledger.
- Assist in budgeting, financial forecasting, and variance analysis to support organizational planning initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal teams on governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting practices when applicable.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in financial concepts including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
- Experience with payroll systems like ADP or Kronos for payroll processing and management.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance procedures and internal controls.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; capable of handling 10-key typing efficiently.
- Solid understanding of GAAP standards and governmental/non-profit accounting practices.
- Ability to analyze financial data critically while applying strong math skills for budgeting and credit analysis.
