The base hourly rate for this position is $24.22.

Job Title: Operator (Pay for Skills Program)

Position Overview
The Operator plays a key role in supporting Johns Manville’s core values and delivering an exceptional JM experience. This position is part of the Pay for Skills program and requires completion of all Operator 1 qualifications. Operators ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Johns Manville safety procedures and policies.
  • Operate equipment and relieve other employees as directed.
  • Maintain clear communication to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties to meet plant standards.
  • Follow Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Complete all required training sessions and meetings.
  • Utilize and maintain all necessary checks and checklists.
  • Accurately complete production reporting.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Education, Skills, and Abilities

  • Completion and sign-off of all Operator 1 job qualifications.
  • Ability to accurately read tape measures, work instructions, and product specifications.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages).
  • Beginner to intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Safely lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs, sometimes in awkward positions.
  • Frequent use of hands for repetitive motion, gripping, and sensing.
  • Work safely in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Tolerate dusty conditions and extreme temperatures (hot and cold).
  • Ability to work 8- or 12-hour rotating shifts.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching overhead.
  • Must be physically able to perform essential job functions. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
