Job Title: Operator (Pay for Skills Program)
Position Overview
The Operator plays a key role in supporting Johns Manville’s core values and delivering an exceptional JM experience. This position is part of the Pay for Skills program and requires completion of all Operator 1 qualifications. Operators ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all Johns Manville safety procedures and policies.
- Operate equipment and relieve other employees as directed.
- Maintain clear communication to ensure consistent product quality.
- Perform daily housekeeping duties to meet plant standards.
- Follow Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Complete all required training sessions and meetings.
- Utilize and maintain all necessary checks and checklists.
- Accurately complete production reporting.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Leadership Responsibilities
- This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
Education, Skills, and Abilities
- Completion and sign-off of all Operator 1 job qualifications.
- Ability to accurately read tape measures, work instructions, and product specifications.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages).
- Beginner to intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Safely lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs, sometimes in awkward positions.
- Frequent use of hands for repetitive motion, gripping, and sensing.
- Work safely in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Tolerate dusty conditions and extreme temperatures (hot and cold).
- Ability to work 8- or 12-hour rotating shifts.
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching overhead.
- Must be physically able to perform essential job functions. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
