Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise fire suppression activities during emergency incidents, ensuring swift and effective response.
- Coordinate training exercises to enhance team skills in fire prevention, rescue techniques, and emergency medical procedures.
- Oversee station maintenance, including mechanical inspections of firefighting equipment and vehicles to ensure operational readiness.
- Respond to medical emergencies utilizing EMT experience, providing first aid, basic life support (BLS), and CPR as needed.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to identify hazards and enforce safety protocols.
- Manage personnel schedules, assign tasks, and evaluate team performance to promote a motivated and efficient workforce.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, emergency responders, and community members during incidents to facilitate coordinated efforts.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a firefighter with demonstrated leadership capabilities; prior EMT experience is highly desirable.
- Certification in first aid, basic life support (BLS), CPR, and firefighting training from recognized authorities.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or equivalent for operating fire apparatus; mechanical knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks regularly; comfortable working in high-pressure environments.
- Strong understanding of vital signs assessment and emergency medical procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively under stressful conditions.
