FIRE DEPARTMENT - SUMMER INTERN

The Village of Elk Grove Village is seeking a college enrolled student, preferably in a Fire Science program or closely related curriculum, to participate in a summer internship program with Fire Administration, Fire Operations, and the Inspectional Services Divisions during the summer of 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in community outreach programs, events, and teams.
• Assist with reports and paperwork.
• Assist and perform fire pre-incident surveys of commercial properties.
• Accompany firefighters during shift duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a college level program, preferably Fire Science or a closely related curriculum.
• Ability to work outdoors and in all weather conditions.
• A valid Illinois Driver’s License and a safe driving record.
• Ability to work five (5) days, forty (40) hours per week.

PROGRAM DATES: May 2026 – August 2026

HOURS OF WORK: 40 Hours/Week HOURLY WAGE: $17.50/Hour

OPENING DATE: February 17, 2026 CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled

Additional Benefits: Summer Seasonal employees will accrue one (1) hour of paid leave for every forty (40) hours worked.
