Fire Fighting (FF) Mechanical Engineer

- specializes in designing, installing, inspecting, and maintaining systems that protect buildings and occupants from fire hazards. This role often combines mechanical design principles with strict safety codes (NFPA, local fire authority) to manage fire suppression equipment

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Engineering: Prepare schematic drawings, layout designs, and shop drawings for fire protection systems (fire pumps, sprinkler systems, hydrants, hose reels, FM200, deluge systems) using AutoCAD or REVIT.
  • Calculations & Technical Specifications: Perform hydraulic calculations, pump sizing, and select appropriate fire protection equipment.
  • Site Supervision & Commissioning: Supervise the installation of firefighting piping and equipment at project sites to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Inspection & Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of installed fire alarm and fire fighting systems.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Approvals: Ensure all designs and installations meet National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), local fire department standards, and QCDD/civil defense guidelines.
  • Project Documentation: Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ), technical submittals, material submittals, and as-built drawings.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate fire systems into the overall MEP design.
