Fire Fighting Technician – Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Commissioning
- Install, test, and commission fire alarm, sprinkler, and fire suppression systems as per design and safety standards.
- Maintenance & Inspection
- Conduct routine inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance of fire fighting systems and equipment (pumps, hydrants, sprinklers, hose reels, fire extinguishers, etc.).
- Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose issues in fire alarm and fire fighting systems (electrical/mechanical).
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare service reports, inspection checklists, and maintenance logs.
- Safety Compliance
- Follow safety protocols and ensure all systems meet fire safety codes.
- Emergency Support
- Provide immediate response in case of system breakdowns or fire emergencies.
- Team & Coordination
- Coordinate with project engineers, supervisors, and contractors during installations and site activities.
- Guide helpers/assistants in carrying out tasks safely and efficiently.
- Assist in evacuation drills and fire safety training when required.
- Support Civil Defense inspections and testing procedures.
- Update records of testing and repairs for audits and authority inspections.
- Replace faulty parts, repair systems, and ensure quick restoration.
- Identify faults or potential risks and perform corrective maintenance.
- Maintain compliance with NFPA, Civil Defense, and local authority standards.
- Ensure correct placement of detectors, sprinklers, and extinguishing equipment.
