Job Title: Fire Pump Technician
Purpose
Responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire pump systems and associated fire protection equipment. The Fire Pump Technician ensures all fire pump systems operate reliably and comply with applicable safety regulations, industry standards, and client requirements.
Job Summary
The Fire Pump Technician performs field activities related to the servicing, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of diesel-driven, electric-driven, and jockey fire pumps. The role includes conducting performance tests, diagnosing and rectifying faults, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations, and maintaining accurate service documentation. The technician works closely with engineers, clients, facility management teams, and contractors to ensure fire protection systems remain fully operational and compliant with applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
- Install, test, commission, and maintain diesel, electric, and jockey fire pump systems.
- Verify proper installation and operation of controllers, valves, piping networks, and associated fire protection equipment.
- Assist in system upgrades, modifications, and replacement activities.
Inspection, Testing & Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of fire pumps, controllers, valves, alarm interfaces, and related equipment.
- Perform flow tests, performance tests, acceptance tests, and annual fire pump testing in accordance with NFPA standards and local authority requirements.
- Monitor system performance and identify potential operational deficiencies.
- Inspect and maintain fuel systems, batteries, cooling systems, lubrication systems, and engine components of diesel-driven fire pumps.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system faults.
- Perform corrective maintenance and repairs to restore equipment to operational condition.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and service calls as required.
- Verify the proper functioning of alarm, supervisory, and monitoring systems associated with fire pumps.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate service reports, inspection records, testing results, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure all activities comply with NFPA standards (including NFPA 20 and NFPA 25), UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, and company procedures.
- Report abnormal conditions, equipment failures, or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance assessments as required.
Coordination & Safety
- Coordinate with facility managers, fire protection engineers, consultants, and contractors during testing and maintenance activities.
- Follow company Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) policies and procedures.
- Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe working environment.
- Adhere to all Fire & Life Safety (FLS) requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform any other duties assigned by management within the scope of the role.
QualificationsEducation
- ITI, Diploma, or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Plumbing, or a related technical trade.
- Additional fire protection certifications will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 4–6 years of experience in fire pump maintenance, testing, commissioning, and fire protection systems within the UAE.
- Hands-on experience with diesel fire pumps, electric fire pumps, jockey pumps, controllers, and related fire protection equipment.
- Familiarity with NFPA standards, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, and local installation practices.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of fire pump testing, commissioning, and preventive maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.

Reporting To
Service Supervisor / Maintenance Supervisor / Fire Protection Engineer
Working Conditions
- Site-based role involving indoor and outdoor work environments.
- May require emergency call-outs, overtime, and weekend work as operationally required.
- Frequent travel to client sites within the UAE.
Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED3,500.00 per month
