RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Fire Safety Support & Operations
- Support the Fire Safety Manager in implementing the organization’s fire safety strategy across all departments.
- Deliver internal Fire Safety training according to the organization training plan.
- Support the planning and execution of fire evacuation drills and emergency response exercises.
- Conduct weekly and monthly inspections of fire safety equipment and systems.
- Perform audits and drills to ensure operational readiness of fire detection and suppression systems.
- Assist in preparing, updating, and maintaining site-specific Emergency Response Plan.
- Monitor compliance with fire safety regulations and RATP Dev standards, and report any violations or concerns.
- Participate in safety meetings and briefings related to fire prevention and response.
Fire Safety Compliance & Auditing
- Support the Fire Safety Manager in conducting Fire Safety audits and inspections to assess fire safety compliance.
- Assist in carrying out legal compliance checks and ensuring adherence to fire safety plans, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure accurate documentation and investigation of fire-related incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Submit hazard observations in line with established reporting procedures.
System Development & Standardization
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of local fire safety standards, procedures, and policies aligned with RATP Dev standards and relevant codes (e.g., NFPA, Egyptian Fire Code).
- Support deployment of fire safety standards and procedures across all organizational levels and work areas.
Training & Culture Building
- Promote a strong fire safety culture by engaging with staff and reinforcing safe work practices.
- Instruct and guide employees to ensure tasks are performed safely, minimizing fire risks.
- Participate in fire safety inductions and deliver Toolbox Talks to raise awareness.
- Encourage staff to take ownership of fire safety by reporting unsafe conditions and intervening in case of violations.
Safety Responsibilities
- Comply with the company’s Safety Policy and Safety Management System requirements.
- Take accountability for identifying, reporting, and mitigating fire-related risks in the workplace.
Consider the safety of others potentially affected by one's own activities.
- Understand that fire safety is a shared responsibility and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Perform any other fire safety-related duties as assigned by the Fire Safety Manager.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or a recognized Health & Safety qualification accredited by the relevant authorities in the country of operation (where applicable).
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Proven experience in developing organization-wide fire safety and emergency response policies.
- Familiarity with railway operations, safety procedures, and related regulatory requirements.
- Practical experience and prior involvement in firefighting activities.
- Solid understanding of management standards relevant to fire safety systems and responsibilities.
- Knowledge of risk identification, analysis, assessment, and preventive measures.
- Understanding of Integrated Management Systems, particularly ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety).
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 - 7 years of relevant experience, preferably with prior service in Civil Defense or a similar emergency response organization.
