Job Summary
Expedite Fire, Inc. dba Lindley Fire is a multifaceted, full-service fire sprinkler and life safety systems company specializing in the installation, service and inspection of a wide variety of fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm, kitchen hoods, extinguishers and an underground contractor. Lindley Fire requires design expertise to support business goals and project management. This starts with project inception through project completion. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service with in-house design and installation teams, ensuring every project is completed with the highest quality standards. Designers are expected to provide support by preparing routine layouts of fire sprinkler systems, detail drawings, sketches, and diagrams. The designer is an integral part of the construction process in producing fire sprinkler system designs with as much accuracy and detail as possible, to ensure that the field installation is completed with minimal design errors. We're seeking a motivated and detail-oriented AutoSprink and/or AutoCAD/HydraCAD software designer to join our growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Use AutoSprink and/or AutoCAD/HydraCAD software and related tools to create fire sprinkler systems design drawings and submittal packages within the limits of system specifications, costs and planning.
  • Review work orders and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design.
  • Submit design plans to proper department leadership for approval and obtain permits as required.
  • Check dimensions of parts and materials to be used in relation to one another, and in relation to various parts of the whole structure or project.
  • Revise size, shape and arrangement of parts to create practical design drawings.
  • Sketch rough layout of system and compute angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, clearances, tolerances, leverages and location of holes.
  • Draft detailed multi-view drawings of layout and systems.
  • Prepare accurate quantity take offs of fire sprinkler systems and underground.
  • Maintain project drawing files, associated records and documentation in an orderly condition.
  • Develop and maintain updated library of symbols & drawings (templates) for use on future projects.
  • Operation of large plotter, scanner and reproduction equipment.
  • Be Able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • A valid driver's license may be required for travel between job sites.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of Fire Sprinkler System Design experience utilizing AutoSprink and/or AutoCAD/HydraCAD software and Microsoft Office products
  • NICET Level 1 or Fire certification is a plus
  • Proficient in reading and understanding Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical layouts and diagrams for fire sprinkler layout.
  • Knowledge of CBC-California Building Code and UPC-Uniform Plumbing Code, NFPA 13, 13D, 13R, 14, 20 and applicable codes and standards.
  • Basic working knowledge and understanding of fire alarm related electronics, codes and practices.
  • Strong ability to follow directions given by supervisor to develop / design drawings.
  • Ability to perform take offs from fire sprinkler drawings.
  • Ability to perform hydraulic calculations.
  • Excellent communication skills, including personal, written and telephone communications.
  • Experience with general office procedures.
  • Ability to research and solve problems resulting from the nature of tasks assigned.
  • Positive attitude focused on customer satisfaction.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
