Nature of Work

The City of Minot is accepting applications for the entry-level position of FIREFIGHTER. This is a full time, nonexempt civil service position. This is skilled ﬁre suppression and emergency response work involving responding to citizen calls for emergency assistance due to ﬁres and other crisis situations; operates ﬁre suppression equipment. Applicants must complete the written ﬁreﬁghter exam, complete a job-related physical agility and ﬁtness test, oral interviews, background investigation, and post-offer medical exam. Compensation and Beneﬁts

The assigned salary range for Fireﬁghter under the 2026 City of Minot Annual Pay Plan is Grade 58, with an annual salary range of $53,113 – $78,847 per year.
This is a full time, FLSA non-exempt position.

Firefighter testing will take place on Thursday, May 21st, 2026

beginning at 9:00 AM. Physical Agility Testing immediately follows written exam. First round interviews will occur on same day Thursday, May 21st, 2026.
