Applicants MUST currently be Commonwealth of Virginia certified.Firefighter-EMT BasicGrade range: $56,585 - $82,851; DOQ.Firefighter-EMT Advanced/IntermediateGrade range: $58,000 - $84,926; DOQ.Firefighter-ParamedicGrade range: $62,244 - $91,141; DOQ.Applicants MUST currently possess the following certifications: Current unexpired Commonwealth of Virginia certified EMT, A-EMT, Intermediate, or Paramedic certification.Current Virginia Department of Fire Programs Fire Fighter I & II, Hazardous Materials - Operations Level, and EVOC III.Formal and structured paramilitary recruit academy completion.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provides fire suppression services.Provides emergency medical care services.Ensures that all equipment and facilities are well maintained and available for use.Develops and presents public education materials.Operates vehicles and equipment.Addresses public inquiries.Other duties as assigned.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting of objects weighing in excess of 74 pounds, moving in areas of difficult or dangerous access.The work environment involves extremely high risks with exposure to potentially life threatening situations or unusual environmental stress, which requires a full range of safety and other precautions, but in some cases, these precautions cannot prevent injury, illness, or possibly death.
