FIREFIGHTER / PARAMEDIC (CAREER)

Single Role PARAMEDIC (CAREER)

The Town of Douglas Fire Department is accepting applications for the full-time position of Firefighter/Paramedic and Single Role Paramedic. Lateral applicants encouraged. Ideal candidates will have a least one year of experience working as a firefighter/paramedic and/or paramedic.

Firefighter/Paramedic candidates must be able to successfully complete a CORI and background investigation, HRD medical physical exam and DOT Drug Screening, HRD physical ability test (PAT), and the full time ten-week Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Recruit Training Program or equivalent as a condition of employment.

Single-Role Paramedic candidates must be able to complete a CORI/detailed background check, medical physical exam, lift test, and DOT drug screening as a condition of employment. Single Role Paramedics are not required to be trained as firefighters.

Required minimum qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • CPR/BLS Certification
  • ACLS
  • Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic with ability to obtain MA EMT-P Certification within 45 days of hire.

Desired qualifications:

  • Pro Board Firefighter I/II Certification
  • Hazardous Materials Operations Level
  • Completion of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Recruit Training Program

Salary Range (Base):

  • Paramedic (Single Role): $77,546.56 – $84,156.80
  • Firefighter/Paramedic: $85,321.60 – $92,572.48

Candidates may be started at higher step depending on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits plus other monetary incentives based on the IAFF Local 5061 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
