Candidates may be subject to written test, interview panel, and physical agility assessment. Selected candidates shall be required to participate in second interview with the Fire Chief, background investigation, drug screen and medical evaluation per NFPA 1582.
Starting salary:

· Partial Training/Certification $38,187 (Possess either Firefighter 1 or EMT-Basic)

· Fully Trained/Certified $44,736

Pay stipend is available for Advanced Life Support certification:

· EMT-Advanced $2,000

· EMT – Intermediate $4,500

· EMT – Paramedic $6,500

Hiring Process
1. Interview panel, and physical agility test on the same day.

2. Second interviews with Fire Chief as vacancies occur.

3. Successful background investigation and Drug Screen

4. NFPA 1581 exam will include Respiratory Assessment and SCBA Mask Fit Test

5. Hiring preference may be given to certified Pro-Board/IFSAC Firefighters and NR EMTs

Job Requirement

Minimum Required:

• Valid Driver’s License
• Minimum of 18 years of age

Prefer:

• Firefighter 1, 2 Pro-Board or IFSAC Accredited
• Hazardous Materials Operations
• Emergency Medical Technician Basic certification recognized by Virginia OEMS
• Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC)
• NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
• Hazardous Materials Technician – Virginia Department of Emergency Management
• OEMS Emergency Medical Technical Advanced, Intermediate or Paramedic-Virginia
• Driver-Operator Pumper/Aerial
