Firefighters, EMT, Paramedics - Full and Part-Time Positions Open Now

Rockbridge County Fire-Rescue is a combination system that responds to dynamic fire and medical emergencies in the Rockbridge County area. We are seeking applicants who value working in a team environment, are focused on serving the community, and have a desire to participate in innovative training and development.

Open positions include

Full Time : Firefighter-EMT Recruit, Firefighter-EMT (B, A or I), Firefighter-Paramedic

Part-Time: EMS Only (EMT- B, EMT-A, Intermediates, Paramedics) and dual certified Firefighter-EMS

Employees of Rockbridge County Fire-Rescue work a 24-hour schedule ( west coast style) and are offered competitive pay, employer-paid health insurance, hazardous duty retirement, paid sick and vacation time, and training opportunities .

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and valid Virginia Driver’s License, VA EMS/BLS certification, NIMS and ICS certification(s), EVOC and CPR. VDFP Firefighter I is required for full-time positions.

Employees of Rockbridge County Fire-Rescue:

• Collaborate with the County Volunteer Fire/EMS agencies to maintain efficient delivery of services to the citizens of the County.
• Prepare various reports and other types of correspondence; maintains records and files.
• Develop and maintains working relationships with local, County, State, Federal agencies; maintains compliance with policies and regulations.
• Provide Life Support to patients.
• Drive and operate SUV's, ambulances, as needed on non-emergent and emergent incidents. Attends various meetings.
• Respond to emergencies and non-emergencies, natural, and or manmade disasters and provides EMS services; operates necessary equipment.
• Utilize a variety of tools and instruments regarding patient care, patient access.
• Assist in maintaining and repairing apparatus, equipment, fire-rescue stations, and grounds as necessary. Conducts community demonstrations and programs.
• Participate in continuing education, training, and instruction programs.
