Hiring: Full Time Firefighter/EMT

The Firefighter/EMT responds to fire and medical emergencies for the purpose of saving lives and protecting property. The position also supports a wide range of department programs and events as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: The Firefighter/EMT is assigned a work schedule determined by the department and reports directly to a Captain or Acting Captain during their shift. The Captain/Acting Captain guides the daily work of the Firefighter/EMT, with the Fire Chief setting overall work priorities for the department.

AGE Requirements: 18 Years of age and not have reached your 40th birthday by hire date according to 1977 Fund Rules.

Work Schedule: A twenty-four-hour work period is utilized based upon the Berkeley schedule: 24 on 24 off, 24 on 24 off, 24 on 96 off.

Minimum qualifications to be considered:

· High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency

· 18 years of age

· Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record throughout employment.

· Indiana Emergency Medical Technician Certification

· Firefighter I & II certification

· Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Level

· Ability to obtain Driver Operator-pumper within 18 months of hire date.

· Current Health Care Provider BLS CPR/AED.

· NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800.

· Current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) card

· Successful completion of a criminal history, drivers’ history, medical and mental health physicals. Physical and mental health testing is based upon NFPA 1582 requirements and 1977 Fund requirements.

All Required Certifications must be recognized by the State of Indiana.

3. Copies of Firefighter I & II certifications

4. Copies Hazardous Materials Awareness, and Operations certifications

5. A copy of your current EMT certification and BLS provider CPR/AED

6. A copy of your NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 certificates.

Salary and Benefits:

· Starting Pay: $62,000 Annually
