Position Overview: The Fire Engineer/EMT Basic plays a critical role in the Village of Los Lunas Fire Department, ensuring the proper inspection, maintenance, and availability of firefighting apparatus and equipment. This position is responsible for conducting inspections, servicing apparatus, and maintaining equipment, in addition to performing all duties outlined in the current firefighter job description. The Fire Engineer/EMT Basic provides vital support to the Lieutenant, communicates apparatus and equipment issues, and assumes an acting Lieutenant role when required. Key Responsibilities: Inspect, service, and maintain firefighting apparatus, equipment, and tools.Conduct regular and thorough inspections of all apparatus to ensure functionality and safety.Perform routine maintenance tasks to keep apparatus and equipment in optimal condition.Maintain records of inspections, maintenance, and service for all apparatus and equipment.Collaborate with firefighters to ensure equipment readiness and availability for emergency responses.Communicate apparatus and equipment failures promptly to the Lieutenant and team members.Provide assistance to the Lieutenant in mitigating equipment issues during emergency responses.Assume the role of acting Lieutenant in the absence of a Lieutenant due to calls or leave.Coordinate with the Fire Officer upon their arrival at the scene.Respond to emergency calls as needed, including fire suppression, emergency medical services, and rescue operations.Administer emergency medical care as an EMT Basic to individuals in need.Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure efficient and safe emergency responses.Engage in fire prevention and public education activities within the community.Maintain a clean and organized workspace and equipment.Follow departmental policies, procedures, and safety protocols.Participate in training sessions, drills, and continuing education programs to enhance skills and knowledge.Foster a positive and professional work environment within the fire department.Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and dedication to serving the community. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED certificate.Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) certification/licensure.Valid BLS CPR card.Three full years of fire/EMT-B experience, with at least one year within the Los Lunas Fire Department.Valid Driver's License.Haz-Mat Awareness/Operations
