Firefighter/Operator Employment Announcement

The Smartsville Fire Protection District is seeking applications for Firefighter/Operator.

Firefighter/Operator duties include but are not limited to:

Act as engine Company Officer in the absence of a senior officer
Operate Type 1, Type 3, Type 6 engines and water tenders on emergencies
Conduct tailgate briefings prior to emergency deployments
Respond to all types of emergency incidents
Perform routine maintenance of apparatus, buildings, grounds and fire equipment
Assist with company inspections
Conduct and participate in company trainings
Maintain records and reports as directed
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

21 years of age
IS-700 AND ICS 100, ICS 200 and ICS 300, S-190 and S-290

12 months of Firefighter Exp
Current California Class B License or Class C Drivers License w/Fire Fighter Endorsement
Driver Operator 1A and 1B
Basic Wildland Firefighter Certificate
Current CPR and EMT-B certification California State Card
Current Hazmat FRO Certification
Confined Space Awareness
Firefighter 1 Certificate required/Firefighter 2 preferred

Work Schedule and Pay Rate:

Pay is a daily stipend for dayshift coverage and additional $25 stipend for those choosing to sleep at the station. The shift will include weekends. Must be available for extended assignments up to 21 days. There are no benefits with this position. All applicants will be required to provide at least two references, preferably from recent supervisors.

Starting wage is $150 day with the potential of $39/hr for wildland fire assignments.

• Firefighting: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

• CDL B or CDL C with Firefighter Endorsement (Required)
