Firefighter/Paramedic

Interested applicants MUST complete two things:

1. Register with National Testing Network (NTN) and complete the Fire TEAM test;

This position requires a current CPAT and NTN FireTEAM Test.

Salary Information:

  • 14-Step Pay Plan
  • · Firefighter/Paramedic starting pay - $65,209
  • Experience pay available up to $72,542 for relevant firefighter or Pinellas County Paramedic certification

Additional Incentives Provided:

  • Apparatus Operator $100/Month
  • Fire Officer 1 Certification $50/Month
  • Fire Safety Inspector 1 Certification $25/Month

Retirement:

  • Florida Retirement System (FRS)-high risk

Job Overview
Skilled technical work in the City’s fire department in the field of fire suppression, prevention and emergency medical services. Work is performed under the general direction of a superior officer. Dually certified Firefighter/ Paramedic preferred

Required Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:

  • Florida Certification as a Firefighter II by F.S.S 633 (certificate of compliance)
  • Florida certification as a Paramedic
  • Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and CPR instruction certification.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (paramedic) Documentation of successful CPAT
  • Non-tobacco user for 1 year prior to employment and throughout employment

Preference will be given to dually certified Firefighter/Paramedic, although, consideration will be given to applicants with the following circumstances:

  • Florida State Certified Firefighter/EMT currently in Paramedic school
  • Florida State Certified Paramedic currently in the Fire Academy
  • Florida State Certified Paramedic seeking Fire Academy sponsorship

Pay: From $65,209.00 per year
