Position Overview
We are looking for a vigilant and safety-conscious Fireman – Contract to join our project team in Karachi. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing fire watch services during hot work activities, ensuring compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) requirements, monitoring fire hazards, and responding promptly to emergency situations. The role is critical in maintaining a safe working environment and preventing fire incidents on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Remain present at all designated hot work locations during welding, cutting, grinding, brazing, and other hot work activities.
- Verify that a valid Permit to Work (PTW) has been issued and approved before the commencement of any hot work.
- Conduct inspections of the work area before, during, and after hot work to identify and eliminate potential fire hazards.
- Ensure all combustible and flammable materials are removed, isolated, or adequately protected prior to the start of work.
- Confirm that appropriate fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment are available, fully charged, and readily accessible.
- Continuously monitor the work area for sparks, hot slag, smoldering materials, and any signs of fire.
- Stop work immediately and notify the Safety Officer or Supervisor if unsafe conditions or fire hazards are identified.
- Maintain effective communication with the Safety Officer, Supervisors, and work crews throughout the hot work activity.
- Maintain accurate Fire Watch Log Sheets and other required safety documentation.
- Participate in emergency response drills, fire drills, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
- Assist in responding to fire emergencies and support evacuation procedures when required.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, client safety requirements, and applicable fire safety regulations.
- Maintain housekeeping standards to minimize fire risks in the assigned work area.
Qualifications
- Matric or Intermediate preferred.
- Valid Fireman Certification, Fire Safety Training, or equivalent certification will be an added advantage.
- Basic First Aid certification is desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Fireman or Fire Watch in industrial, EPC, construction, oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or manufacturing projects.
- Hands-on experience with hot work monitoring and fire prevention activities.
