Firmware Engineer I

Q-Lab Corporation is currently seeking a Firmware Engineer I to join our team in Westlake, OH. This role will be responsible for

enhancing, troubleshooting, researching, and resolving embedded software challenges on Q-Lab’s custom designed controller boards.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and test software to work with Q-Lab testers, devices, sensors, and other peripherals.
• Engage in all phases of development, including concept, design, documentation, prototype, test and manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot low level controller/software related problems.
• Complete QA Testing changes you and other developers have made.
• Write touchscreen user interface software.
• Write test instructions, test reports, and engineering change notices.
• Recommend improvements to Q-Lab’s software development process.
• Provide technical assistance to the engineering, purchasing, service, sales, marketing, and production departments.
• Work with large-scale embedded systems (100,000+ lines of code).

Required Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Software Development, or equivalent work experience
• Knowledgeable with common software development practices and the C programming language
• Knowledgeable with common embedded software development IDEs (integrated development environments) and debuggers (e.g. Segger J-Link)
• Strong customer-service orientation. Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Desired Skills/Experience:

• Knowledge of communication protocols is a plus (e.g. I2c, SPI)
