Fleet Diesel Mechanic

Overview
Looking for a diesel mechanic to keep our growing fleet on the road. We are a small trucking/landscaping company with triaxle dump trucks and other supportive heavy equipment. This is a lead mechanic position who will manage and perform basic route maintenance as well as any necessary truck and equipment repairs. Work weeks are mostly Monday - Friday with flexible hours.

Responsibilities Include

  • Manage all aspects of repairs and general truck maintenance.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, and air brake inspections to prevent breakdowns
  • Keep records of maintenance on each power unit and track maintenance intervals
  • Perform basic and advanced repairs to keep trucks on the road. Repairs will range from replacing sensors, wiring, fixing emissions issues, and replacing hoses, to more complex repairs such as rear end, transmission and motor work.
  • Order parts and deal with suppliers to keep the necessary parts and supplies on hand.
  • Communicate with drivers to identify any issues with their trucks and to catch issues before they arise.
  • Perform repairs in our shop or on the road/job site.

Experience

  • Proven mechanic experience with a focus on heavy-duty diesel engines. While heavy duty diesel trucks are the majority of the work, light duty equipment and vehicles in the fleet will be included in the work load.
  • Experience with Mack and Peterbilt dump trucks is highly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding, hydraulics, air systems, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and electrical troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with JPro and other computer softwares for diagnostics and repairs.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance including tire service, shocks & struts replacement, brake repair, power tools usage and general assembly skills
  • Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose issues efficiently
  • Ability to lift heavy components safely during repairs or maintenance tasks while following safety guidelines

Additional Requirements

  • Possess a valid CDL drivers license (or willing to obtain one)
  • Able to pass a drug test
  • 2+ Years of diesel engine repair experience
  • Reliable self driven work ethic
  • The ability to weld is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Mack Trucks

Compensation:

  • $38-$48 / Hour based on experience
  • 2 weeks paid vacation
