The City of Raleigh Fire Department is looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Fleet Maintenance Specialist to help keep our fire engines, ladders, rescues, and support vehicles ready for action. In this part-time role, you’ll perform hands-on maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of emergency vehicles and equipment. Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent with 6 months+ training beyond High School Level in Automotive Repair or related field, and 3 to 5 years’ experience in automotive repair, vehicle electronics, or a related field
Work Environment and Physical Effort:
Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an outdoor environment, street environment, vehicle, or in a shop environment. Employees may occasionally work in an office or similar indoor environment.
Work Exposures:
There is frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts. Employees may occasionally be exposed to extreme cold (below 32 degrees), extreme heat (above 100 degrees), fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals or substances, and loud noises (85+ decibels average over 8-hour working day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, construction).
