Fleet Maintenance/Truck & Trailer Technician

Truck & Trailer Maintenance Technician

Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, inspection, and repair of Class 8 diesel trucks and trailers to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations across the fleet. This role covers everything from preventive maintenance to diagnostics, repairs, and coordination with drivers and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PMs) on tractors and trailers
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and air system issues on diesel trucks
  • Work under the hood on Class 8 diesel engines (required experience)
  • Inspect, service, and repair brakes, tires, suspension, and drivetrain components
  • Maintain and repair trailer systems including dry vans (doors, floors, lighting, etc.)
  • Ensure all equipment meets DOT and safety compliance standards
  • Handle roadside breakdown coordination and emergency repairs when needed
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and complete work orders using industry software
  • Manage parts inventory and coordinate ordering when necessary
  • Communicate effectively with drivers regarding equipment condition and safety
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Support administrative tasks related to maintenance operations

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2+ years experience in a vehicle repair facility or similar environment
  • Hands-on experience working on diesel Class 8 trucks (must have worked under the hood)
  • Strong knowledge of truck and trailer maintenance and repair procedures
  • Diesel Mechanic certification(s) preferred
  • Experience in a union environment is a plus
  • Familiarity with maintenance management software
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Solid understanding of DOT, OSHA, and other safety regulations

  • Freight Handling: No touch freight
  • Route: OTR fleet support
  • Work Location: On-site (not remote)

This position plays a critical role in keeping the fleet running safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year

Experience:
