Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Hub Manager/Back-Up Driver to join our team. This hybrid role will primarily be responsible for covering Class-A CDL routes when needed. Ensuring that drivers arrive and depart on time. You will also oversee the timely reporting of these schedules to both customers and internal management. Additionally, you will handle various fleet management tasks including equipment maintenance coordination, driver support, and DOT compliance. Your ability to juggle multiple tasks efficiently and provide leadership when needed will be key to your success in this role.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Cover Class-A CDL Routes: You will serve as the back-up driver for scheduled routes, stepping in when regular drivers are unavailable or when additional coverage is required.
  • Driver Coordination & Support: Act as a point of contact for driver coordination, you will monitor schedules, track progress, and report any delays, accidents, or issues to customers and internal management. Additionally, you will provide support to drivers as needed, offering guidance on route navigation, equipment handling, and safety protocols.
  • Customer Communication: Maintain excellent relationships with customers by responding promptly to customer emails, providing updates on delivery times, delays, and any other inquiries. Respond to customer emails and phone inquiries with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Fleet Management & Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate maintenance, run equipment to and from local mechanic shops and Ryder facilities as needed, and ensure that vehicles are always DOT-compliant and ready for service.
  • Routine Inspections & DOT Compliance: Conduct regular inspections of tractors and trailers to ensure they meet all DOT regulations and safety standards.
  • On-Call Availability for Emergencies & Route Adjustments: Be available on-call 24/7 to handle emergency situations, including equipment breakdowns, route changes, or unforeseen delays.
  • Driver Supervision: Supervise and support a team of fleet drivers, ensuring that all team members are following best practices, adhering to safety protocols, and meeting performance expectations. You will assist with managing scheduling conflicts, troubleshooting operational issues, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Promote a culture of safety and ensure that all drivers adhere to safety regulations, including hours of service (HOS) compliance, vehicle inspection protocols, and traffic laws. You will monitor driving behaviors and provide coaching as needed to reduce the risk of accidents or violations.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate logs for vehicle inspections, maintenance, and communication. You will ensure that all required reports are submitted in a timely manner and that any discrepancies or issues are flagged for resolution.
  • Collaboration with Management Team: Work with management to improve operations, provide feedback, and help with strategic planning.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Clean Driving Record
  • Minimum of 2 years of Class-A CDL Experience
  • 5+ Years in the Trucking Industry
  • 2+ Years of Management Experience
  • Knowledge of DOT Compliance Regulations
  • Dispatch Experience (Preferred but not required)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 per year
