About the position:
Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus is hiring a Fleet Mechanic who provides preventive maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles as assigned by the Arizona Regional Fleet Manager.
Location: Yuma, AZ
Pay Range: $24.00-$35.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

Perform front line mechanical inspections, preventive maintenance and electrical repairs on both diesel and gasoline vehicles per Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus (BMFA) Fleet Policy and Procedures

Ability to maintain vehicles to state standards set forth by the Department of Health Services and other local ordinances

Respond to vehicle breakdowns in the field when requested and provide timely road call support with accurate diagnosis and quality repairs
-
Complete all required vehicle repair and maintenance documentation using BMFA repair work orders and BMFA Fleet Maintenance Software
-
Thoroughly document all repairs and maintenance activities, including accurate accounting of labor hours, parts, and materials used
-
Provide excellent customer service and maintain a respectful working relationship with all fleet and operations personnel, as well as with outside vendors and personnel

Identify, document and report existing or potential safety concerns to Fleet Supervision

Ability to multitask across multiple projects and make sure repair schedules stay on time

Able to mentor junior mechanics, providing technical guidance and on the job training
-
Serve as a primary subject matter expert for complex diagnostics and repairs
-
Able to fill in as needed to supervise shop day to day operations
-
Experience in estimating and scheduling work (labor hours) to help project shop work load and schedule.

Conduct final inspection for quality control
-
Participate in rotating On-Call shifts as required
-
Shared responsibility of parts ordering and research
-
Shared responsibility of administrative duties
-
Shared responsibility of inventory control, shop supplies and consumables
Minimum Required Qualifications:
-
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent education
-
Must have automotive knowledge and skills necessary to perform maintenance and repairs on company vehicles.

Preferred to have six years of verifiable experience as a Class A/B - Senior level Mechanic

Knowledge and experience using multiple scanner diagnostic platforms for light and heavy duty vehicles
-
Must be proficient in using computer systems to complete work orders, maintain records and other documentation as required

Must consistently follow set processes and procedures and adjust to changes

Preferred to have ASE and/or EVT Certifications
-
Must be willing to obtain ASE and EVT Certifications
-
Must have a current and valid Driver's License
-
CDL preferred but not required
