Float Registration Clerk, Patient Access, Days, Full-Time
Job Summary/Purpose
The Float Registration Clerk is responsible for providing front-line registration services across multiple locations within the organization. This includes specialty physician offices, the Emergency Department (ED), outpatient departments, offsite clinics, and express care. The role ensures accurate patient information collection, insurance verification, and exceptional customer service, adapting quickly to varying workflows and patient volumes at each site.

Perform patient registration functions including demographic entry, insurance collection, authorization validation, and obtaining necessary signatures and consents.

Float between assigned departments and locations based on staffing needs, often with short notice. Includes all off-site locations in Cynthiana, as well as in Carlisle and Falmouth.

Maintain knowledge of registration procedures across all service areas including ED, outpatient diagnostics, specialty clinics, and urgent care.

Provide exceptional customer service in high-volume and sometimes stressful environments.

Collect co-pays, verify insurance eligibility, and communicate financial responsibility information to patients as needed.

Respond to patient and family inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.

Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.

Assist with scheduling, pre-registration, and appointment confirmation as needed.

Maintain current knowledge of insurance requirements and departmental protocols.

Support team members and leadership with other duties as assigned.
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:

Minimum of one year of registration, scheduling, or medical office experience preferred.

Previous experience working in multiple care settings (ED, outpatient, specialty clinics) is highly desirable.
Skills & Abilities:

Ability to travel and float between multiple locations as needed.

Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in using registration and scheduling software, electronic health records (EHR), and Microsoft Office.

Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
