Food Production Lead

Job Summary
As a Production Lead at Frozen Garden, you will be a hands-on leader at the heart of our operations, driving excellence in food production while upholding the highest standards of food safety and quality. You will supervise and inspire a small but mighty team, focusing on process efficiency and continuous improvement, ensuring all our handcrafted, whole-food products meet food safety and FDA guidelines.

This is a working leadership role—meaning you are dedicated to being on the production floor, actively participating in daily flow (3-4 days per week), while dedicating time to administrative tasks, planning, and inventory management (1-2 days per week). What you’ll do

• Lead and supervise the production team to ensure efficient daily operations and adherence to production schedules.
• Work hands-on within the production flow, primarily in prep or sealing roles, for 3-4 days per week.
• Implement and monitor compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., cGMP, HACCP principles) and conduct regular inspections to uphold sanitation standards.
• Collaborate with the team to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements and efficiencies to optimize workflow and speed up operations.
• Manage raw material and finished goods inventory, including tracking usage, utilizing basic math skills for reporting, and reporting shortages.
• Support the hiring, training, and development of new and current Production Specialists on safety, quality, and production techniques.
• Oversee packaging and sealing processes to ensure products are correctly and efficiently prepared for distribution.
• Complete and maintain accurate production, quality control, and inventory records.

Basic qualifications

• Proven strong leadership skills with experience supervising and motivating a team in a production or foodservice setting.
• Significant food safety experience (e.g., ServSafe Manager certification, strong cGMP knowledge, or similar expertise) with a demonstrated commitment to quality.
• Exceptional detail-orientation and organizational skills necessary for compliance and documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and implement operational improvements and efficiencies.
• Physical ability to perform the hands-on work required in a food production environment.

Preferred qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading a team through a combination of hands-on work (leading by example) and direct supervision, ideally in a fast-paced food production or service environment.
• Experience in a frozen food or plant-based food production setting or equivalent experience in a fast-paced food service or restaurant environment.
• Experience with inventory management and tracking systems.
• Background in continuous improvement or lean process methodologies.
