Food Program Support

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a great opportunity for an innovative, solution-oriented employee to utilize the full capability of USDA meal programs to innovate, create, and assist solutions in response of our anti-hunger initiative. The Food Program Support will help the FP Coordinator organize and implement high quality, nutrition-focused YMCA food programs while meeting all regulations and standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Support food programming to meet the needs of the community and fulfil YMCA objectives.
  • Ensures the preparation of all meals and snacks is complete for Y programs including menu planning and maintaining inventory.
  • Candidate will attend trainings and complete necessary record keeping for the following programs:
    • Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)
    • Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
    • YMCA Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) Standards
    • USDA program guidelines and requirements.
  • Supports compliance with grant requirements.
  • Trains and directs volunteers.
  • Visit food program sites to ensure compliance with program requirements, determines need and communicates findings to supervisor.
  • Works to broaden the reach of the food service program including opportunities for volunteer engagement, community partnerships and program development.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with volunteers, staff and the community.
  • Work with minimal supervision, assess the needs of the facility and how to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to represent the YMCA in an effective way in the community.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, timely and relevant program data.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal commination skills.
  • Requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Mandated Reporter Training, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid Maine driver’s license.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This position is required to be performed on the YMCA premises. Employee will work primarily at Farley Road, Brunswick Early Learning Center location but may be required to travel to other sites.
  • Regular interaction with members and staff.
  • Supervision received from the Food Program Coordinator. May also take direction from senior staff.
