Food Service Helper - for Extended School Year Programs

This is for an Extended School Year (ESY) program and is considered a BOCES ESY position.

Applicants are encouraged to also apply to all other positions that they are qualified for such as those found on the Summer Work posting which are not BOCES ESY positions.

LOCATION OF POSITION: Fairport NY 14450; Food Service Department

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: July 9, 2026 - August 19, 2026. Various Hours, Monday-Friday. For all BOCES Programs Pre and Post summer trainings and set-up as directed.

Mandatory Summer Set-Up Meetings

June 2nd = Transition/Employment

June 3rd = O'Connor Academy, eStart, Creekside (BPA Unit + TES Staff)

June 10th = Creekside (BUP Unit), Bird/Morgan

SALARY RANGE: $16.00 per hour (or higher pending contract negotiations) or your 2026-27 rate in this title for current Monroe One Boces staff

Duties

• Food preparation (salads, sandwiches, etc.)
• Portion desserts, salads, and fruits for serving.
• Wash, trim and prepare vegetables.
• Set up serving lines.
• Operate kitchen appliances.
• Serve food.
• Operate dish machine and wash pans and utensils.
• Assist in cleaning of kitchen and dining area.
• May serve as cashier.
• Assist in vending operations.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Delivery service of food to off-site BOCES facilities.
• Stock and put away food supplies upon delivery.
• Other tasks as requested by management.
  
  

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of kitchen operation.
• Training will be provided.
• Must be available for all 30 days of the summer program.
• Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
