About the Role

The Food Service Worker at Blue Earth Elementary/Middle-29001 plays a vital role in ensuring that students receive nutritious and appealing meals in a safe and sanitary environment. This position is responsible for preparing, serving, and maintaining food service areas in compliance with health and safety standards. Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to established menus and portion sizes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas, including washing dishes and utensils.
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols to ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Assist with inventory management by receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies properly.
  • Provide courteous and efficient service to students and staff during meal times.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Support team members in daily kitchen operations and special events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic manual dexterity to handle food preparation and serving tasks.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods during meal service.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to proper sanitization and food safety practices.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a food service or cafeteria environment.
  • Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe).
  • Familiarity with working in a school or educational setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
