Key Responsibilities


Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position:

  • Preparing, cooking and serving food without waste and to meet budgetary and quality assurance expectations.
  • Meeting required Federal, State, and County Health Department food service regulations and OSHA standards of health, safety and sanitation.
  • Ensures that food is maintained at appropriate temperatures.
  • Destroys or disposes of outdated, sensitive documents, blank warrants, expired food stamps, etc., in a manner appropriate for the sensitivity.
  • Cooks, bakes, or serves regular and/or special meals to clients and/or staff.
  • Coordinates an inventory management system to effectively control and distribute supplies and equipment.
  • Cleans, sterilizes and or disinfects areas and/or equipment.
  • Maintaining excellent customer service skills.
  • Maintain exemplary work habits.

Qualifications


Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

  • A current Utah County Food Handlers permit and maintain certification.
  • Prior experience working with the intellectually and developmentally disabled.
  • This position requires you to be able to lift up to 50 pounds or 1/4 of your body weight, whichever is less with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:

  • Ability to prepare food
  • Distribute food using appropriate food handling and sanitation techniques, Principles, theories and practices of food safety and public health protection
  • Maintain inventory; track receipt, sending and delivery of materials
  • Principles, theories, and practices inventory control
  • Use cleaning agents, products and equipment
  • Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
  • Requires possession of a current Utah County food handler's permit
  • Ability to observe details at close range and at a distance
  • Ability to observe physical conditions, behavior or surroundings for potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity
  • Ability to hear sounds that may indicate potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity
  • Ability to verbally communicate safety concerns to others

About the Role

Incumbents prepare regular and special meals for clients and staff in an institutional setting. Incumbent must have a Food Handler's permit.
