ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are looking for candidates who are interested in taking their skills to the highest level of forensic specialization. The role will start off with learning how to perform forensic analyses that our firm specializes in, including use-of-force reconstruction, nighttime visibility, video analysis, and forensic animation. By committing to this role, you will work personally on forensic analyses and animation, preparing to eventually lead forensic analyses cases, assist with conducting scoping calls with potential clients and provide valuable insights and solutioning of how 3DF can best partner with them on a particular case or project.

ABOUT US:

3D Forensic is a US-based forensic technology firm. We specialize in using the highest level of forensic technology, including 3D modeling and animation, and apply scientific and mathematical analysis to help attorneys visualize the truth behind critical legal cases. Majority of our work gets submitted into court as objective evidence, which helps establish the truth in legal proceedings, and (or) assists the jury to better understand the facts through visuals. By providing reliable and objective evidence, 3D Forensic plays a key role in contributing to the integrity of the legal system*.

POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ideal candidate for this role has had a depth of experience in scientific analysis or 3D engineering development. They will also have passion and willingness to learn the processes of forensic analysis.

  • Case management and reporting: Manage multiple cases concurrently, ensuring thorough documentation of findings, methodologies, and recommendations. Prepare detailed reports summarizing examination results.
  • Mentorship and training: Provide training and guidance to junior analysts and other team members, sharing expertise in forensic techniques, tools, and best practices.
  • Research and development: Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in digital forensics, developing innovative forensic techniques and improving existing processes and procedures in collaboration with team leads. Evaluate and recommend new forensic tools and technologies for organizational use.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with law enforcement, legal teams, IT professionals, and other relevant parties to facilitate cases and contribute to incident response and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Expert witness testimony (training will be provided for this): Provide sworn testimony as an expert witness in legal proceedings, explaining technical findings clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including judges, juries, prosecutors, and defense attorneys.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education: Four-year degree in math, science or engineering (Note: 3D/animation degree alone will not suffice)
  • Must be located in San Francisco Bay Area and have reliable transportation (Note: This is NOT A REMOTE ROLE)
  • Must be able to lift equipment 50 pounds or heavier
  • California Driver’s License
  • Technical expertise: Advanced knowledge of forensic laboratory techniques and equipment or digital forensics tools and methodologies (e.g., EnCase, FTK, Cellebrite). Strong understanding of file systems, operating systems, network protocols, and data recovery techniques.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns, anomalies, and draw sound conclusions despite ambiguity or missing information.
  • Communication skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership and teamwork: Ability to work independently and manage multiple investigations, while also collaborating effectively with teams and mentoring junior analysts
  • Experience working within Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, PDF

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience: Experience and familiarity with the following software are key:
  • Autodesk 3DS Max
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Mathematical mindset
  • Comfortability with public speaking
  • Project management
  • Familiarity with legal frameworks related to digital evidence, incident response, and data protection.
  • Experience testifying in court or other legal proceedings

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Primarily computer-based work within a standard work week (Monday through Friday), but may involve travel through the USA for on-site incident investigations during the workweek or weekend, requiring exposure to various environments and potentially disturbing images or information.
  • Utmost care is required in handling expensive top of the line technology equipment to conduct necessary site visits. Considerable care is required when handling expensive, top-of-the-line technological equipment during site visits.
  • May involve irregular hours and on-call availability for time-sensitive cases or incident response.
  • Requires the ability to handle changing situations as new information or findings come to light either from our analysis or the client, and maintain strict confidentiality.

Pay: $95,000 - $110,000 based on experience PLUS performance based bonuses

Location: Concord, CA (Due to the technical nature of this role, you have to be in-person at the office at least 3 days a week)
