Forensic Residential Specialist (Shift 2)

Job Purpose:
  • The Forensic Residential Specialist (Shift 2) at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER is responsible for providing comprehensive support and supervision to residents within a forensic residential setting. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety, security, and rehabilitation of individuals with mental health needs who are involved with the criminal justice system. The specialist will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to facilitate therapeutic interventions and promote a structured environment conducive to recovery and reintegration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct supervision and support to residents during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to program rules and safety protocols.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clinical staff.
  • Conduct regular checks and monitor resident activities to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Facilitate group and individual therapeutic activities aimed at enhancing residents' coping skills and social functioning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident progress, incidents, and other relevant information.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, legal professionals, and other stakeholders to support residents' legal and therapeutic needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Respond to emergencies and crises in accordance with established protocols, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents and staff.
  • Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere that encourages residents' personal growth and development.
Required Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • CNA preferred

Required Experience:
  • Minimum of Two (2) years of prior experience in a mental health setting is required
  • Minimum of One (1) year supervisory experience required
  • Minimum of One (1) year of experience working with the chronically mentally ill in an acute psychiatric setting preferred

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of forensic mental health issues and the ability to apply this knowledge in a residential setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing situations.
  • Proficient in documentation and record-keeping with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in high-stress situations and provide support to residents in crisis.
