Job Purpose:
The Foreman-Joinery is responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day joinery production activities within the factory, ensuring high-quality output, efficient use of resources, and adherence to production schedules. This role involves supervising a team of skilled joiners, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and working closely with the Factory Manager to meet production targets and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Coordination:
- Supervise and manage the activities of joiners and other factory personnel in the joinery section.
- Plan daily workloads, allocate tasks, and ensure that production runs efficiently.
- Monitor team performance and maintain production flow to meet deadlines.
- Production Oversight:
- Oversee joinery works such as cutting, assembling, sanding, and finishing of custom wood products, cabinetry, and millwork.
- Ensure that all production follows technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot production issues, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct quality inspections of completed items to ensure adherence to company standards.
- Ensure that all products leaving the factory meet the required specifications and customer expectations.
- Implement quality control procedures and maintain a high level of craftsmanship in all joinery works.
- Health & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure that all work in the factory complies with health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and promote safe working practices.
- Report any safety hazards, accidents, or incidents to the Factory Manager.
- Resource & Material Management:
- Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure materials are available for scheduled production.
- Manage inventory of raw materials, tools, and equipment to minimize wastage and downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of material usage, labor, and production activities.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to joiners and apprentices in the factory.
- Foster a positive work environment and encourage teamwork and productivity.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support the professional development of team members.
- Production Planning & Scheduling:
- Collaborate with the Factory Manager to plan and schedule production runs based on project requirements and timelines.
- Adjust workloads and manpower in response to changing production demands and priorities.
- Ensure that all production activities are completed on time and within budget.
- Maintenance & Equipment Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and safe use of all joinery tools and machinery.
- Schedule regular equipment inspections and coordinate necessary repairs or replacements.
- Ensure that all machinery is operated according to safety guidelines and manufacturer specifications.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma/Certification in Carpentry, Joinery, or related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in joinery production, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong technical knowledge of joinery techniques, materials, and machinery.
- Experience in factory-based production environments is preferred.
