Franchise Business Consultant

Description

The Franchise Business Consultant (FBC) serves as the primary link between TOGO’S and the franchise community with broad accountability to each constituency. The Franchise Business Coach is responsible for guiding and leading Franchise Business Operators in support of TOGO’S brand standards and to achieve operational and financial success that supports the Company’s mission, vision and values. The FBC applies leadership, influence, and functional expertise to create meaningful, productive partnerships with each assigned franchise point of contact. The FBC is responsible for identifying key business issues affecting franchise performance, influencing decisions and aligning resources to ensure action is taken to increase franchise capability and performance. The FBC must develop and maintain a strong sense of ownership of the assigned territory and provide leadership to and constant protection of the TOGO’S Brand.

Primary Responsibilities

· Partner with each TOGO’S franchisee to diagnose barriers which affect restaurant performance and assist with developing business/action plans to maximize improvement (operations, marketing, training, human, etc.)

· Support specific company operated locations with an emphasis on creating a model for high performance operations, meeting financial and budget objectives, training franchisee candidates, testing new products, innovating interior design, evaluating equipment and testing concept evolution.

· Collect and maintain an active working knowledge of the key business metrics as outlined in sales logic for each of their assigned franchise restaurants in their portfolio. Use these metrics to analyze issues and opportunities for each restaurant and the franchisees business as a whole. .

· Ensure franchisee compliance withal Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Restaurant Excellence Visit (REV), TOGO’S Visitation Summary, Food Safety and Sanitation Report (FSSR), Market Force, and develop corrective action plans, milestones and timetables where appropriate.

· Remain actively involved with any TOGO’S restaurant that routinely delivers a guest experience inconsistent with TOGO’S vision, supporting the definition and execution of a work plan to improve and ensure steady progress toward compliance.

· Assist the TOGO’S franchisee with assessing talent and bench strength at all levels to achieve short and long term business needs.

· Actively share, and assist franchisees in adopting best practices.

· Fully understand the purpose and benefits of new programs and decision in order to effectively influence franchisees and obtain requisite buy-in; provide feedback to the appropriate business partner(s) when programs or communications are inadequate. Always represent the brand in a positive and constructive way both in verbal and written communications to the franchisee.

· Represent and become an advocate of the franchisee with the restaurant support center points of contact and TOGO’S management.

· Assist TOGO’S franchisees with developing and maintain a capital plan sufficient to meet all development and remodel obligations.

· Employ and demonstrate effective interpersonal and negotiation skills to successfully drive business objectives and manage change.

Leadership

· Infuses company culture and operational excellence when implementing standards and initiatives.

· Coordinates implementation of key initiatives and new products/systems, including: plans and schedules project implementation, anticipates and resolves implementation issues

· Ensures effective integration/coordination with other initiatives, provides training, troubleshoots problems, confirms operational readiness, and ensures ongoing follow-up of systems.

· Builds strong relationships and trust with franchise operators to guide, influence and execute company systems and processes to consistently exceed customer expectations.

· Acts as an advocate for the franchisee and the company, insuring that both points of view are clearly communicated and understood.

Financial

· Completes business reviews and serves as a business advisor to provide expertise on sales and profit growth, cost management, guest service delivery, product quality and safety, brand image, and other related issues.

· Identifies key business issues affecting franchisee performance, develop corrective action plans, influence decisions, align resources, take immediate action and holds franchisees accountable to commitments.

· Reviews financial and operational reports to rate/evaluate franchisee and identify any potential issues; addresses the issues and influences the franchise operator to take corrective action.

· Uses financial acumen to communicate the financial obligations that franchise operators have to the company; reviews facility reports and ensures they are well-managed and in good operational standing.

· Proactively identifies issues, problem solves, and follows through to resolution.

Communication

· Communicates with operators on the benefits of running a high performing operation and the value and potential return in making sound investments in the business.

· Ensures business operations and practices are in compliance with franchise agreements and Company standards.

· Conducts annual business performance reviews and plans, documents and communicates areas of concern, partners with franchisees on the development and execution of performance improvement action plans.

Retail Operations

· Protects the TOGO’S brand by ensuring their restaurants meet TOGO’S HQSC, food and restaurant safety standards.

· Conducts regular Total Quality Experience (TQE) visits to the Restaurants and consults on brand standard expectations.

· Communicates Company objectives, missions and values.

· Leads franchise business meetings, serves as primary contact between Franchise Operators, company and vendor partners, to address franchisee questions, concerns, or issues in a timely and responsive manner.

· Shares experiences with other company departments to provide insight and consultation on operational issues; participates in the evaluation of rollouts to ensure continuous improvement and refinement of processes.

· Demonstrates ownership and accountability by consistently observing restaurant operations (in any restaurant), providing feedback and taking action in critical situations.

· Reinforces importance of restaurants having the right staff (through quality hiring and retention) to maximize sales potential.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field, or equivalent education and experience.

· Serv Safe Certified

· Minimum 8 years’ business management experience in a restaurant or retail operations, with 3 to 5 years franchising experience with multi-unit operations.

· Highly self-sufficient with the ability to work independently and remotely

· Demonstrated ability and experience to consult with and influence business owners. Advanced knowledge of consultative approaches and experiencing guiding leaders to make excellent business decisions.

· Proven ability to deliver results, effectively influencing decision through strong negotiation skills

· Ability to communicate and present effectively to various audiences

· Excellent time management and organization skills and ability to work well under pressure with time deadlines

· Ability to plan and set priorities to achieve business objectives

· Outstanding accountability and focus skills

· Strong problem solving and innovation

· Operational systems knowledge

· Excellent oral, written and presentation skills

· Decisions are made with a high degree of integrity and ethical standards

· Outstanding relationship management, ability to work with all levels of franchise and corporate organizations from team members to ownership, a successful collaborator.

· Extensive air and ground travel is required, including frequent overnights

· Basic Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Power Point)

Territory

This role will cover locations in the following regions: Northern California (primarily in Sacramento), Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
