Fusion Dynamics is developing solid-state plasma actuators that move air using electric fields, bringing aerospace-grade flow control into everyday electronics. Our technology replaces conventional fans with a silent, ultra-thin ionic airflow module that uses about one third of the power, has no moving parts, and can be integrated directly onto heat sinks, cold plates, or chassis walls. Originating from plasma flow control research in Oxford, our platform uses carefully shaped electrodes and high-voltage waveforms to generate smooth, directed jets of air, enabling precise, fast control of airflow and significantly improving thermal performance in laptops, workstations, edge AI systems, and dense networking hardware.

We are looking for a freelance CFD Analyst (approx. 40 h/week) to support the simulation and optimization of our airflow and thermal management solutions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run 2D/3D CFD simulations (primarily in ANSYS Fluent).
• Perform aerodynamic and thermal analyses and post-process large datasets.
• Document methods and results in clear reports and PowerPoint presentations.
• Collaborate with our engineering team to guide design decisions.

Requirements

• Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Strong experience with ANSYS Fluent and CFD workflows.
• Proficient in Python and C++ for scripting, automation, and data analysis.
• Excellent skills in PowerPoint, MS Word, and the MS Office suite.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Experience in automotive, ideally Formula 1, is highly appreciated; experience in electronics cooling simulations is also welcome.

Details

• Freelance contract, ~40 hours per week.
• Compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.
