We are seeking a skilled Freelance Desktop Support technician to provide remote and on-site technical assistance to clients. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing IT infrastructure, and ensuring optimal performance of computer systems across various platforms. Duties
- Provide technical support for desktop, laptop, and mobile devices across Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
- Troubleshoot software issues related to Microsoft Office, VPNs, firewalls, TCP/IP, DNS, Active Directory, and other network services.
- Manage computer hardware including installation, configuration, and maintenance of peripherals and components.
- Support IT infrastructure elements such as LAN/WAN networks, network administration tasks, and server management using tools like Microsoft Windows Server and Linux servers.
- Assist users with help desk requests via ServiceNow, Jira, or BMC Remedy platforms.
- Configure and troubleshoot network connectivity issues including TCP/IP protocols, LAN/WAN setups, and wireless/mobile device support.
- Maintain security protocols by managing firewalls, VPN access, and Active Directory permissions.
- Use SCCM for software deployment and system updates; utilize BMC Remedy for incident tracking; employ ServiceNow or Jira for ticket management.
- Document technical procedures and provide analysis to resolve recurring issues efficiently.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their IT needs and deliver tailored solutions that enhance their operational efficiency.
Skills
- Proven experience in technical support with a focus on desktop support and help desk functions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in software applications and computer hardware management.
- Proficiency in operating systems including Windows (Windows Server), macOS, and Linux environments.
- Knowledge of computer networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN configuration, VPN setup, firewall management, and network security best practices.
- Familiarity with IT support tools like SCCM, BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, Jira for incident management and deployment tasks.
- Ability to manage Active Directory accounts and permissions effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities related to IT infrastructure challenges.
- Experience supporting mobile devices and integrating them into existing networks is a plus.
