Freelance Photo Retoucher (Full-Time, Contract)

We're seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented freelance Photo Retoucher to support our team with full-time hours (40/week). If the partnership proves successful, there may be an opportunity for long-term employment. The ideal candidate has a sharp eye for color and composition, strong technical expertise, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You must be able to take direction, manage your time efficiently, and consistently deliver polished, brand-aligned visual assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Retouch product imagery: remove dust, correct inaccuracies, clean up backgrounds
• Apply compositing, silo paths, perspective adjustments, lighting and shadow refinement
• Ensure color accuracy using physical samples or reference materials
• Align multiple image angles for cohesive image sets
• Perform image quality checks before submission
• Collaborate with the Director of Photo to maintain brand consistency
• Execute quick and accurate file adjustments as needed
• Maintain organized assets and structured file naming
• Understand output requirements for both digital and print (RGB vs. CMYK)
• Deliver high-quality, production-ready images

Skills and Proficiencies

• Minimum 4 years of professional retouching experience
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Capture One
• Expert-level retouching, editing, and color correction
• Strong knowledge of non-destructive workflows, smart objects/filters
• Skilled in masking, blending, and Dodge & Burn techniques
• Understanding of photographic lighting and visual composition
• Experience with tethered Capture One workflows and color profiling
• Excellent color vision and attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Highly organized with strong time management
• Receptive to feedback and fast-paced iteration
• Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Generative Fill, Luminar AI, Runway ML)
• Experience with complex multi-image compositing
• Adherence to structured asset organization and file naming
• Awareness of automation opportunities and AI-assisted workflows
