Freelance Platforms Business Developer — Digital Marketing , Tech & Software Services

Drive inbound project flow across Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancer.com & beyond for our software & AI services

We are a technology and digital services company delivering high-value solutions across software development, AI, machine learning, mobile applications, and digital marketing. Our profiles on Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancer.com, and similar platforms are set up but untapped — and we need a driven Business Developer to change that.

This is not a passive role. You will own the full sales funnel on these platforms: from profile optimisation and gig strategy through to active proposal writing, client acquisition, and deal closure. You are the bridge between our technical capabilities and the clients who need them.

You won't be building what we sell — but you need to understand it well enough to sell it compellingly. If you can explain AI automation to a non-technical buyer and close a $5,000 project on Upwork, this role was written for you.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct a full audit and optimisation of all existing profiles across Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancer.com, PeoplePerHour, and Toptal — including bios, portfolios, service descriptions, SEO keywords, and pricing strategy
  • Build a platform-specific go-to-market strategy aligned with each marketplace's algorithm, ranking system, and buyer intent
  • Create compelling gig listings and service packages for each of our core offerings — priced competitively and structured to convert
  • Write and send high-quality, personalised proposals for inbound RFPs and posted projects across all platforms
  • Actively source and pitch potential clients through platform search, job feeds, and outbound messaging
  • Manage initial client discovery calls or chats, qualify project scope, and hand off to the technical team with a clear brief
  • Build and protect our review reputation — driving 5-star outcomes through proactive client communication
  • Identify high-demand project types and emerging niches to expand our service listings strategically
  • Track and report weekly KPIs: impressions, proposals sent, conversion rate, revenue closed, and average project value
  • Implement upselling and retainer strategies to grow client lifetime value

What you must bring

  • Proven experience winning and managing projects on Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancer.com, or similar — with results you can show
  • Demonstrated ability to sell technical services (software development, AI, mobile apps, or digital marketing) to non-technical buyers
  • Strong understanding of freelance platform algorithms, search ranking, and proposal mechanics
  • Exceptional written communication — proposals, gig copy, and client messages that convert
  • Ability to read a technical brief, ask the right questions, and scope a project accurately before committing the team
  • Self-managed, targets-driven, and comfortable with performance-based accountability
  • Familiarity with pricing models for software projects — fixed scope, milestone-based, and hourly

Nice to have

  • Background in software, tech, or digital marketing (even as a non-technical person)
  • Experience with proposal tools, CRM systems, or sales tracking
  • Previous experience scaling a service-based account from zero to $5K+ monthly revenue on any freelance platform
  • Understanding of AI, automation workflows, or no-code/low-code tools (helps when positioning our AI services)
