The MLB Network's On-Air Promotions Department seeks a dynamic and talented Freelance On-Air Promotion Producer with sharp writing skills and the ability to develop cutting-edge creative concepts on a project-by-project basis.
Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize on-air promotional campaigns for MLB Network, NHL Network, and Major League Baseball and its corporate departments and partners.
- Write compelling promo copy for various on-air promotional spots for products, which may include programming, games, merchandise, sales tapes, sizzle reels, and marketing presentations.
- Work closely with video editors to bring concepts to life and create compelling executions.
- Suggest design approaches for promos and presentations. Oversee designers/animators as they execute design, animation, and live action integration.
- Provide direction and creative input for live action and talent shoots.
- Work with Director, On-Air Promos and VP Promotional Media Strategy to reach department creative goals.
- Stay current with creative and technical industry trends and implement as appropriate.
- Participate in department strategy and brainstorming sessions.
- Other such duties as required
Qualifications and Skills:
- A minimum of 3 years broadcast on-air promotion writing/producing experience with a strong body of work featuring conceptual and episodic work.
- A working knowledge of Major League Baseball and/or the National Hockey League, its history, and its players past and present, is strongly preferred.
- Experience in sports television, advertising, affiliate sales or production industries is also preferred.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, as well as manage deliverables lists, is mandatory.
- Field production experience preferred.
- Experience editing with Adobe Premiere a plus.
- Problem solver who can work on tight deadlines in a collaborative and creative environment.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals at remote locations including the MLB Office of the Commissioner, MLB Advanced Media, and outside production companies.
- Be extremely organized and demonstrate initiative and ability to complete multiple assignments in a timely manner.
- Ability to work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Possess visual acuity sufficient to perform required tasks.
- Possess manual dexterity sufficient to perform required tasks.
- Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
- Must possess excellent analytical and verbal and written communication skills.
- Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree is required
Position Reports to:
Pay Range: $400/day
