As part of the Product Design department, you play a vital role in shaping the next generation of Urbanite’s travel products. The team collaborates closely with production, stores, purchase, and sampling units to ensure every design is both aesthetically appealing and practically manufacturable.

You will engage in material research, prototype development, and cost-efficient design strategies while gaining hands-on exposure to real-time factory environments. Your role supports the entire design-to-manufacturing journey—selecting suitable fabrics and components, understanding inventory limitations, and coordinating material availability for prototype and production runs. Working within a dynamic, system-driven, and growth-oriented team, you’ll contribute to creating functional, durable, and user-centric luggage designs that meet industry expectations and align with brand requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop a diverse range of bag products, including ladies’ handbags, backpacks, duffle bags, gym bags, sling bags, and luggage, from concept to final prototype.

- Research market trends, consumer behaviors, and new design opportunities in bags and soft luggage.

- Develop design concepts through sketches, storyboards, mood boards, and CAD renderings.

- Create detailed technical packs, including measurements, material specifications, trims, hardware, and construction details.

- Collaborate with sample makers and production teams to develop prototypes and improve iterations.

- Select appropriate fabrics, foams, linings, zippers, buckles, and other materials for durability and performance.

- Ensure designs meet cost, manufacturability, and quality standards.

- Coordinate with marketing and merchandising teams for product positioning, colorways, and seasonal collections.

- Review and refine samples during pre-production and quality assurance stages.

- Maintain design libraries, inspiration boards, and material swatches.

- Stay updated on global design trends, new materials, and innovations relevant to soft luggage and bags.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Degree/Diploma in Product Design, Fashion Accessories Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.

- Strong visualization and sketching skills.

- Proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW , or 3D CAD tools).

- Knowledge of Bags construction, sewing techniques, and materials.

- Understanding of ergonomics, functionality, and user-centered design.

- Ability to handle multiple projects with strong attention to detail.

- Ensure the creation of manufacturing-efficient bag designs by applying hands-on knowledge of sewing machines and construction techniques.

- Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Experience (Optional)

- Prior experience in designing backpacks, duffels, trolleys, or travel accessories.

- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and vendor coordination.

- Ability to work on cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
