Freelance WordPress & Shopify Developer (SEO, Hosting & Security Expert)

We are looking for an experienced freelance website developer to manage and support our existing clients and build new websites when required.

We need someone who brings strong expertise across WordPress, Shopify, hosting, technical SEO, and website security, especially handling spam and malware issues on SEO client websites.

This is a remote, long-term freelance collaboration for a developer who has a solid understanding of working in a digital marketing / SEO agency environment.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, proactive, and skilled at troubleshooting, with real experience in the agency space and strong knowledge of hosting, SEO, spam, and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain existing WordPress and Shopify client websites
• Handle server and hosting management (we host client websites on our own server)
• Troubleshoot hosting issues including DNS, SSL, backups, migrations, uptime, and security
• Diagnose and fix technical SEO issues (indexing errors, sitemaps, robots.txt, schema, Core Web Vitals, speed optimization, etc.)
• Monitor, clean, and prevent website spam & malware attacks including:
• Hacked or spammy pages
• Injected or cloaked content
• Comment and form spam
• Bot traffic and toxic backlinks
• Server-level spam issues
• Implement long-term spam prevention and security hardening

Required Technical & Security Skills

• Strong development experience in WordPress & Shopify
• Deep knowledge of hosting, DNS, servers, migrations, backups
• Expertise in malware cleanup, spam handling, and security implementation
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with Cloudflare or similar website security tools, including:
• Firewall setup
• DDoS & bot protection
• CDN & caching configuration
• DNS & proxy management
• Page rules and security policies
• Ability to set up and manage security layers like Cloudflare, bot blocking, rate limiting, WAF, etc.
• Understanding of website performance and SEO best practices

Minimum Experience

• 2+ years of hands-on experience working with digital marketing or SEO agencies
• Must have experience managing multiple client websites and ongoing technical support

Good to Have (Bonus Skills)

• Experience with SEO plugins like Rank Math or Yoast
• Familiarity with tools such as Google Search Console, PageSpeed Insights, Screaming Frog
• Ability to recommend and implement long-term SEO + security solutions
