Freight & Logistics Coordinator

Job Title: Fleet & Logistics Coordinator
Location: McAdoo, PA
Department: Transportation / Logistics
Reports To: Traffic Manager
Position Summary:
The Fleet & Logistics Coordinator reports to the Traffic Manager supports the daily operations of the transportation department by coordinating outbound shipments, dispatching company drivers, and securing third-party carriers. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of goods while maintaining strong communication with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Traffic Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing daily transportation activities
  • Dispatch company drivers and equipment to meet delivery schedules and customer requirements
  • Source, negotiate, and coordinate with independent trucking companies and freight carriers for outbound shipments
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively address delays or service issues
  • Maintain accurate transportation records, logs, and documentation
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse personnel, sales department, and carriers
  • Support route planning to maximize efficiency and minimize costs
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, DOT regulations, and safety standards
  • Utilize transportation systems and Microsoft Office tools to track and manage shipments
  • Provide administrative support to the Traffic Manager as needed
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the trucking, transportation, or logistics industry (required)
  • Strong working knowledge of dispatch operations and freight coordination
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook; general internet proficiency required
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with transportation management systems (TMS)
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and compliance standards
Work Environment:
  • Office-based role with frequent communication with drivers and external carriers
  • May require extended hours during peak shipping periods
