Job Title: Fleet & Logistics Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Fleet & Logistics Coordinator reports to the Traffic Manager supports the daily operations of the transportation department by coordinating outbound shipments, dispatching company drivers, and securing third-party carriers. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of goods while maintaining strong communication with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Traffic Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing daily transportation activities
- Dispatch company drivers and equipment to meet delivery schedules and customer requirements
- Source, negotiate, and coordinate with independent trucking companies and freight carriers for outbound shipments
- Monitor shipment status and proactively address delays or service issues
- Maintain accurate transportation records, logs, and documentation
- Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse personnel, sales department, and carriers
- Support route planning to maximize efficiency and minimize costs
- Ensure compliance with company policies, DOT regulations, and safety standards
- Utilize transportation systems and Microsoft Office tools to track and manage shipments
- Provide administrative support to the Traffic Manager as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the trucking, transportation, or logistics industry (required)
- Strong working knowledge of dispatch operations and freight coordination
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook; general internet proficiency required
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with transportation management systems (TMS)
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and compliance standards
Work Environment:
- Office-based role with frequent communication with drivers and external carriers
- May require extended hours during peak shipping periods
