Job Title: Fresh Food Supermarket ManagerJob Summary
The Fresh Food Supermarket Manager oversees all fresh food departments, including produce, meat, seafood, bakery, and deli. This role ensures high standards of food quality, safety, presentation, and customer service while managing staff, inventory, and daily operations to meet sales and profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of all fresh food departments
- Ensure freshness, quality, and proper rotation of products (FIFO)
- Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations
- Supervise, train, and schedule fresh food department staff
- Monitor inventory levels, ordering, receiving, and waste reduction
- Ensure attractive product displays and merchandising standards
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests professionally
- Track sales performance and implement strategies to increase revenue
- Control costs, manage shrinkage, and meet budget targets
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Previous experience in supermarket or fresh food management
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and handling procedures
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Basic computer and inventory management skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Capable of lifting and moving products (up to store safety limits)
- Comfortable working in refrigerated environments
