This role is for an on-site OPD Consultant position based in Hassan, Karnataka. Primary job title (standardized): Consultant Ophthalmologist (OPD).

About The Opportunity

Join a growing outpatient eye-care practice serving patients across Hassan and surrounding districts. We are recruiting a fresher Consultant Ophthalmologist (MS/DNB/DOMS) to lead OPD clinics, manage routine diagnostic work-ups, perform minor procedures, and support community screening and patient follow-up in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead daily on-site OPD clinics: evaluate patients, establish diagnoses, and create clear management plans for a broad range of anterior and posterior segment conditions.
  • Perform routine clinical diagnostics: slit lamp exams, indirect ophthalmoscopy, refraction, tonometry, and B-scan where indicated; order and interpret ancillary tests.
  • Undertake minor ophthalmic procedures in OPD (e.g., chalazion incision, foreign body removal, lid procedures) with strict adherence to aseptic protocols.
  • Provide patient counselling on diagnosis, medical and surgical options, pre/post-operative instructions, and coordinate referrals for advanced care when needed.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, patient records, and follow-up schedules using clinic processes or EMR; ensure coding/billing accuracy for OPD services.
  • Participate in community outreach, screening camps, and collaborative quality-improvement activities; engage in continuous learning and departmental case discussions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MBBS with postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (MS/DNB/DOMS) or equivalent.
  • Registration with Medical Council of India / State Medical Council.
  • Fresh postgraduates (fresher consultants) are welcome to apply; clinical internship/rotations in ophthalmology mandatory.
  • Proficiency in English and Kannada preferred for patient communication.
