Front Desk Agent - part-time

Well, you’re in the right place! The Mark Spencer Hotel is hiring a part-time Front Desk Agent to join our team in downtown Portland, OR!

Key Details:

  • Location: 409 SW 11th Ave, Portland, OR 97205
  • Schedule: This position is part-time, working 2-3 shifts per week. Most common shifts will be 3-11pm on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday. Depending upon your availability, you may also pick-up 11am-7pm shifts on other days to cover planned and unplanned absences. The hotel is open 24/7, so additional part or full day shifts may start anywhere from 7am to 3pm.

Who You Are: Our Guest Service Agent is dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service, collaborating effectively with the team, and ensuring a memorable and positive guest experience. Other qualifications include:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities
  • Previous hospitality experience is preferred but not required

Position Overview:
As a Front Desk Agent, you'll be the face of Mark Spencer Hotel, responsible for ensuring our guests have a memorable stay from check-in to check-out. This role isn't just limited to the front desk – we're looking for someone who is eager to learn and grow with us. You'll have the opportunity to cross-train in various areas of the hotel, including our Cafe, wine hour, banquet events, and other guest services. Responsibilities include:

  • Greet and assist guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Answer phones, take messages, and handle reservations
  • Check guests in and out, including verifying bills and posting charges
  • Provide information about hotel amenities, local attractions, and dining options
  • Assist guests with check-in and check-out procedures
  • Respond to guest questions, requests, and inquiries promptly
  • Coordinate guest room moves, late checkouts, and input reservations into the Property Management System
  • Act as a liaison between departments and maintain guest service directory
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies and emergency procedures
  • Inspect equipment, furniture, and monitor entry and guest lobbies for cleanliness
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Assist with Breakfast Cafe operations, including food service and replenishment
  • Perform Night Audit duties as needed, reconciling daily transactions and preparing reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
