The Role:

Architects within our experience design practice are proactive, driven team leaders who are passionate about bringing innovative design visions to the web. Our architects wear many hats and thrive when placed into situations that test their proficiency of modern front-end technologies, and their ability to effectively lead complex business engagements. We lead by example and expect our architects to set and uphold best practices, build scalable and maintainable codebases, and provide mentorship and coaching to junior team members on each of our engagements. Our commitment to building the best possible solution for users will have you collaborating across our XD disciplines and serving as an ambassador of user-centered thinking for our clients from conceptualization through implementation.

  • Is detail-oriented and passionate about user-experience and front-end engineering
  • Delivers performant and scalable front-end solutions for modern web applications and websites
  • Sets coding standards and ensures adherence to front-end best practices with an emphasis on testing, accessibility, and SEO through coaching and mentorship
  • Establishes front-end build processes and implements required tooling for use in CI/CD pipelines
  • Understands how and when to pivot in the development process when project requirements change
  • Keeps up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Works collaboratively as a part of a diverse team
  • Possesses strong time management and communication skills
  • Values mentorship and the opportunity to learn from a Career Coach

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts from an accredited university or equivalent relevant experience
  • 5 – 8 years of work experience in software development
  • Experience leading front-end engineering teams
  • Skilled at creating high-level project plans, timelines, budgets, and release roadmaps
  • Experience managing scope and client expectations
  • Proficiency at time management and delegation of complex tasks amongst team members
  • Track record of successfully driving key decisions with clients and/or executive leadership
  • Expert in HTML, CSS, (SCSS / LESS) and JavaScript
  • Proficient in building applications using leading JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, and Vue
  • Deep understanding of common CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap or Tailwind UI
  • Expert in responsive design and how to deliver high value content and functionality to multiple devices via the web
  • In-depth understanding of accessibility and SEO best practices
  • Experience configuring front end tools such as Webpack and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience writing unit tests and utilizing various testing frameworks
  • Experience working with content management systems and/or open-source products

Bonus points

  • Formal mentorship and team building experience
  • Proven success in managing shifting product requirements and expectations
  • A working knowledge of any server-side languages and familiarity with data structures

Hybrid Working Model: Our employees have the flexibility to work remotely two days a week. We expect team members to spend three days in person, with the freedom to choose the days and times that best suit them, their project, and their teams. You'll collaborate with your project team to balance flexibility with the benefits of in-person connection, delivering outstanding results for our clients. The Why: In-person engagement is essential for building strong relationships with clients and colleagues. It fosters trust, encourages learning, and helps us grow as consultants and professionals.

Travel: For our consulting roles, our goal is to minimize travel, and most projects do not require extensive travel. While some projects may involve up to 80% travel for a period, the annual average for team members is typically 10%–30%. We take a personal approach to travel by considering your submitted preferences when assigning roles.
