Frontline Team Member

Position Summary

Frontline Team Members at Melonhead are the heart of our day-to-day café operations. You'll prep and serve fresh smoothie bowls, juices, coffee, and other menu items while helping maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming space. This role requires a friendly attitude, attention to detail, and the willingness to do what it takes to keep the café running smoothly, from food prep to dishwashing to sweeping the outdoor patio.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience

  • Greet every customer warmly and help guide them through the menu
  • Prepare and serve smoothie bowls, juices, coffee, and yogurt items with consistency and care
  • Ensure all orders are accurate, cleanly presented, and timely
  • Answer guest questions about ingredients, modifications, and offerings
  • Process transactions quickly and correctly using the POS system

Café Cleanliness & Maintenance

  • Wash dishes, utensils, and small equipment throughout the shift
  • Clean prep stations, blenders, refrigerators, espresso equipment, and sinks daily
  • Sanitize high-touch surfaces, counters, and tables regularly
  • Perform daily and weekly deep cleaning tasks (e.g. refrigerator drawers, juice wells, under-counter storage)
  • Take out trash, compost, and recycling as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized back-of-house and dry storage area

Outdoor Café Upkeep

  • Sweep and tidy outdoor seating and entrance areas daily
  • Wipe down tables and umbrellas
  • Water outdoor plants (if applicable) and help maintain the patio aesthetic
  • Assist with setting up or closing down outdoor furniture as needed

Restocking & Prep

  • Refill ingredient containers, napkin stations, cups, and cutlery
  • Label, rotate, and store prepared food items according to food safety standards
  • Prep fruits, toppings, and other ingredients at opening or closing
  • Alert the Café Manager when inventory levels are low or items are out of stock

  • Willing to jump in wherever needed — front, back, inside, or outside

Qualifications

  • Prior food service or hospitality experience is a plus (not required)
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs
  • Flexible availability for mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be comfortable using cleaning supplies and following safety procedures

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
